Sir Roger Scruton (1944 – 2020) passed away on January 12, 2020.
A Professor of Philosophy at Buckingham University, Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Philososphy, University of Oxford, Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall, a Fellow of the British Academy, a senior fellow at the Future Symphony Institute, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He is the author of more than 40 books that have been widely translated, including Art and Imagination (Methuen, 1974), The Aesthetics of Architecture (Methuen, 1979), Sexual Desire (Continuum, 1986), Modern Philosophy (Penguin, 1994) and The Aesthetics of Music (Clarendon, 1997). He has also published several novels, and short stories, and composed two operas for which he has also written the libretti.
