Pioter Shmugliakov

Pioter Shmugliakov is a teaching fellow at the Multidisciplinary Department of Tel-Hai College and the Department of Photography at the Haifa University School of Design. He received his PhD from Tel Aviv University in 2019 with a dissertation on Heidegger’s philosophy of art, and subsequently held two postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute of Philosophy, Freie Universität Berlin. He has published on aesthetics, the philosophy of love, and metaphilosophy, with articles appearing in Journal of Aesthetics and CultureSouthern Journal of Philosophy, among others. Shmugliakov is also the author of four books of poetry in Russian and Hebrew, and experimental photo-poetic work, published under the pen name Petia Ptah. He is currently working on a book-length project exploring the idea of love in contemporary film and a co-edited volume on the aesthetic legacy of Stanley Cavell.
