Sue Spaid is an American curator and philosopher. She has lectured as adjunct professor at various American Universities. In 1999-2002, she worked as a curator at the Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati). Between 2010 and 2012, she was Executive Director of The Contemporary (Baltimore). She also owned and directed Sue Spaid Fine Art (Los Angeles, 1990-1995). In 2017, she curated the exhibition “Ecovention Europe: Art to Transform Ecologies” at Museum Hedendaagse Kunst De Domijnen (Sittard, the Netherlands), which was a pendant to the exhibition “Ecovention: Current Art to Transform Ecologies” (2002), which she co-curated with Amy Lipton in Cincinnati. Since 2014, she has been an editor of the journal Aesthetic Investigations (https://aestheticinvestigations.eu). She has also extensively published in philosophical journals and she is the author of several volumes: Making Values Explicit. On How We Are Moved to Do, Act, Care, and Change (2025), The Philosophy of Curatorial Practice, Between Work and World (2020), Ecovention Europe: Art to Transform Ecologies, 1957-2017 (2017) and Ecovention: Current Art to Transform Ecologies (Cincinnati: Contemporary Arts Center, 2002).
