André De Tienne

André De Tienne is director and general editor of the Peirce Edition Project at Indiana University, Indianapolis. He has been collaborating since 1985 to the publication of the volumes of the chronological edition of the Writings of Charles S. Peirce, and is a co-editor of the second volume of The Essential Peirce. Identifying, reorganizing, and reconstituting Peirce’s manuscripts are one of his responsibilities. He has published numerous articles that bear on various aspects of Peirce’s pragmatism and semiotics, including the connection between phaneroscopy and semiotics, as well as on questions of textual theory. He is also professor of philosophy and teaches graduate courses on Peirce’s semiotic logic and metaphysics. His current research focuses on several ways in which Peirce’s logical instinct for the fundamental seeds methods of analysis, discovery, and synthesis that are at once robust and seminal wherever they get applied. He is the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Semiotics.
