is a Professor of Philosophy and presently chair for the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas. His research interests include the history of western philosophy, American philosophy, and the relations between philosophy and popular culture. He is author of five books and editor of seven more. In the past, he was editor for the Journal of Speculative Philosophy and the Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society; and from 2000-2014 he was editor of a book series on American philosophy with Fordham University Press. He has lectured in North and South America, Europe, and China, and has published numerous articles and book chapters.
